FOLLOWING last week's tenth anniversary of Watford's 4-0 win over local rivals Luton Town at Kenilworth Road, here is what some of the readers of www.watfordfc.com had to say about the victory.

Julian Edmonds

I remember the day well.  I got through to BBC 3CR in the morning and said live on air that Watford would win convincingly, then I promptly went along to Ladbrokes and put a few quid on Watford to win 5-0 at 100/1.

I was in the garden all afternoon listening to the radio (in New Eltham) and thought that at 4-0 up at half time I'd pitched too low with my prediction.  However, once the ref didn't give a blatant penalty in view of the off field antics of the locals I knew that the 'Orns would play the game out. Great day but just a goal more would have been perfect!

Gordon Kelly

One of the really great days! We stormed them early on and they panicked and with their fans getting at them they got more and more nervous. The Oak Road end was split home and away, and as the goals went in some of their fans tried to get at us.

I recall this scrawny luton fan standing shirtless in front of us making "gestures" until a heavyweight female steward grabbed him and dragged him off to our intense delight!

A cry went up from the home fans of '10 years, its only taken 10 years' (since our last victory) and immediately a genius responded with '10 years and it was worth the wait' - this was taken up by the Watford fans and later became the theme on a T-shirt produced by the club.

At half-time the game looked like being abandoned as home fans tried to attack Lennie Lawrence their manager - happy days!

John Rayner

I'll always remember the 4th of October 1997 as it was my 18th birthday. Me and my friend John Mansell went and had a fried breakfast in St.Albans then got the Abbey Flyer over to Watford. After a sneaky first pint in the Pennant we got the unofficial supporters' coach to the ground. Going four nil up after thirty minutes was amazing and I remember dancing with everyone around me for the next 60 minutes. That game has given me ten years of bragging rights. I now teach in a school far too close to Luton and take great pride in telling my students all about my 18th birthday.

I never made it to that 4-0 annoyingly, but remember it well.

I was working in John Lewis, and had a right proper sulk on because I had to work (selling stationery to grannies) instead of going to the game. Basically I spent the entire afternoon trying to make excuses to go to the stock room, simply because I had to walk past the TV department on the way. The boys in the TV dept had sneakily got the game running on teletext on one of the shop widescreens.

By the time it was 2-0 half of the male staff of John Lewis were crowded around the screens, waiting for the teletext to say another one had gone in.

By the time the third and fourth had popped in, I'd all but given up even pretending to try and work. Still gutted I missed it.
