WATFORD FC THANK SIR ELTON JOHN

WATFORD FC would like to thank Honorary Life President Sir Elton John, his band and management team for creating and delivering a quite wonderful evening's entertainment at Vicarage Road last Saturday (29 May).

The global superstar performed to a sellout crowd of 19,645 fans at Watford FC's home ground on what was a fantastic night for fans and staff alike.

Watford Chief Executive Julian Winter has today personally written to Elton to thank him for the concert, but in addition wanted to extend a public thank you to the star for his continued support of the club.

"We all know that Elton was keen to support the club in difficult times, for which we are tremendously grateful" he said.

"The whole Club would like to place on record its gratitude to Elton, his band and management team for agreeing to the concert at Vicarage Road and for delivering one of the most memorable nights ever at the Vic.

"It was an extremely successful event for both the Club and the fans and we thank Sir Elton tremendously for giving us such a contribution both in entertainment and in financial terms.

"The atmosphere was unforgettable and the performance truly exceptional - the fans could sense that the night meant something special to Elton - a feeling that the fans responded to in kind.

"The Club is lucky to have such a committed star performer that is willing to support the Club in such a wonderful way."

Watford have announced that they are hopeful of clearing around £600K profit for the concert, although while the final costs come through a total figure is not yet available.

The Hornets Chief Executive continued: "The proceeds are a fantastic boost to the Club's player acquisition plans for the summer and for Malky as he seeks to recruit new players to develop the squad for the coming season."

Sir Elton also revealed the new Watford home kit live on stage on the night and Watford FC would like to thank him for being a perfect host to the Burrda representatives who had come down to Vicarage Road for the gig.
