MANAGER Aidy Boothroyd was delighted with the performance and also the scoreline last night when Watford ran out 4-0 victors against Wealdstone.
Goals from Tamas Priskin, Marlon King, Tommy Smith and Jordan Parkes completed the rout and Aidy was impressed with the tough tackling nature of the opposition.
He said: "It's always nice to get some goals and when we set our targets for the season out in Germany next week that will be high on the agenda because attacking football is the only way to play.
"Chances were missed last night, but that will always be the case. But I saw some things last night which jogged my memory of what we've worked on in training and it was starting to come to fruition.
"After the game I thanked the Wealdstone lads for the work out and for giving us a good work out. I was pleased that they didn't shirk any tackles, because that's what we're going to be up against this season."
The Preston Park ground was packed full of Watford fans looking to get their first glimpse of Watford players old and new and Boothroyd was impressed with not only the turn out, but their buoyant attitude.
"It was great to see the fans last night and I was really impressed with the turn out. I was particularly pleased with the excitement that was around the place, everyone was really positive ahead of the season.
"Overall it was a great night; I was pleased with Tamas Priskin, Lee Williamson and all of the new singings.
"I thought Matt Jackson was a superb example of being two steps ahead of his man and how to be mentally fit as well as physically fit. That's what I want all over the field next year and that's what we're working towards."
