WATFORD U18s 0-4 MK DONS U18s
WATFORD'S young guns finished their season at MK Dons with an unlucky 4-0 defeat.
The team, however, was made up from only one scholar and the rest of the squad were from Watford' s U16 and U15 teams compared to the Milton Keynes outfit who were all first year scholars.
Despite the scoreline, U18s boss Sean Dyche said that he was pleased with the effort and commitment the team showed.
"By our young sides' age standards, this was extreme. We put a very young side out, many of whom have never played at such a level, so it was always going to be a challenge.
"Apart from the 15 minute spell before half time, the lads did very well, especially the youngest ones."
With success among the second years such as Lee Hodson achieving his first team debut and Marvin Sordell signing his first professional contract this season, the 'development group' that is being established by the coaching team at Watford gives the club a very good grounding for the future.

Second year scholar Ross Jenkins is a regular in the first team |
"In general, this season has been very positive for us." commented Dyche, "Especially when you look at the development area with Lee Hodson, Eddie Oshodi, Billy Gibson and Rob Kiernan playing and Sordell and Bryan signing contracts.
"A notable success for the academy has been Ross Jenkins' success in the first team. Most people don't realise that he's actually officially still a second year scholar.
"The run in the Youth Cup this season- getting to the quarter finals at Birmingham- was a big achievement for this year's squad and it showed what we can do when we play our best team.

Dyche: "We have a lot of talent in the academy" |
"Everything considered it's been a positive season for us and the top end of the academy.
"The successes within the team this year and the players the academy has produced just shows the type of talent we have here.
All of us at Watford FC believe that we can develop this further for the future."
