Trust: Watford FC Marks Herts Feeling Good Week

By: Watford FC Staff

Feeling Good Week is a Hertfordshire-wide event that encourages schools and the wider community to promote children and young people’s emotional wellbeing by raising awareness of mental health and showing where support can be accessed.

As part of this year's Herts Feeling Good Week, Feb 7-11 2022, a unique Watford FC-themed virtual assembly and lesson activity was sent to 357 schools across Hertfordshire.

The assembly itself focused on children’s emotional wellbeing, with this year’s focus on body positivity.

Led by the wellbeing team at the Watford FC Community Sports and Education Trust, the video aims to help children recognise and celebrate their uniqueness, with the interactive lesson activity supporting that message.

Players from across Watford FC's men, women, and Under-23 squads all got involved with the lesson, sharing their messages with pupils. Those involved included Ben Foster, Evie Gane, George Langston, Maurizio Pochettino, and Shauna Vassell.

The Trust’s Mental Health Project Officer, Kennedy Morgan said: “At the Trust we proudly advocate for mental wellbeing and celebrating individuals for who they are.

“Herts Feeling Good week is an amazing week that clearly aligns with our strategy and values; it promotes emotional wellbeing in children and young people and champions the importance of support via the community. We are delighted to be able to utilise our programmes to support schools and the wider community to raise awareness and improve knowledge around wellbeing.”

The Trust sent the video to schools as part of their ongoing commitment to mental wellbeing. As well as supporting awareness campaigns such as Feeling Good Week, the team at the Trust deliver a host of wellbeing programmes including Positive Minds; Education, Man On! and Empower.
