WATFORD FC is delighted to announce the signing of Abdoulaye Doucouré on a four-and-a-half year contract from French Ligue 1 club Rennes for an undisclosed fee – with the midfielder set to join up with the squad fully in the summer.
After signing relevant contract paperwork at the club’s training ground, the France Under-21 international will join La Liga side Granada CF on a six-month loan move.
Hornets’ CEO Scott Duxbury said of the deal: "The opportunity to sign Abdoulaye Doucouré now was one we wanted to act upon, given our long-standing interest in the player.
“He is very much part of Watford’s future plans, and in the time between now and pre-season he’ll be experiencing high-level competitive football in Spain.”
Doucouré, 23, is a product of Rennes’ youth system and made his debut for the club’s first-team during the 2012/13 campaign, and has gone on to feature more than 70 times for the team currently sitting sixth in Ligue 1.
