WATFORD FC confirms the release of players whose contracts are set to expire at the end of June.
All clubs are required to provide the Football League with a retained list to indicate whether a player is under contract, a free agent or has been made a written offer by the club.
Manuel Almunia, Marco Cassetti, Ross Jenkins and Nyron Nosworthy will all leave Vicarage Road when their contracts expire in June.
The short-term contracts of Fitz Hall, Lucas Neill and Albert Riera all finish this summer and the trio will also depart Vicarage Road.
Goalkeeper Gary Woods’ contract expires at the end of the month although the club continues to have dialogue with the player’s representatives.
The Hornets would like to place on record its thanks to all players for their contribution during their time with the club.
Technical Director Gian Luca Nani said: “Our thanks go to all the players whose contracts finish this summer.
“They have helped create some great moments over the last few years that everyone connected with the club will remember fondly.
“Nyron Nosworthy has been a fantastic professional, while Ross Jenkins has come through the club’s Academy and made over 90 appearances for the first-team. Gary Woods has provided great competition to the goalkeepers at the club.
“Fitz Hall, Lucas Neill and Albert Riera have all assisted the squad with their experience at crucial times.
“Special mention should go to captain Manuel Almunia for his true professionalism and to Marco Cassetti for embracing the club after moving from Italy.
“We wish all the players every success for the future, both professionally and in their private lives.”
The club also wishes to clarify the situation regarding players who are leaving clubs and listed as a ‘free agent’ on the Football League retained list. Players are still free to re-sign with their previous clubs should they accept an offer.
