GIANFRANCO ZOLA believes the Hornets have every chance of overturning Leicester City’s 1-0 lead at the halfway stage of the Championship Play-Off Semi-Finals.
An 82nd-minute strike from David Nugent hands the Foxes a slender advantage with the second leg still to come at Vicarage Road on Sunday.
“We still have 90-minutes at our ground, and we’re going to try and make the most of it,” said Zola to Hornets Player
“It is disappointing because we didn’t expect to lose seeing how the game was being played.
“No complaints any more though because we have to pick ourselves up straight away and go into the preparation for Sunday, because there is still a chance to come back from this result.”
The Foxes threw everything at the Hornets during the early stages but the Golden Boys weathered the storm and had chances of their own on a blustery night in the Midlands.
Zola rued the missed opportunities which could have made a big difference at The King Power Stadium.
“We created a lot of chances and I didn’t see them scoring that goal. Against teams like Leicester you always have to be aware as they can score a chance from nothing like they did today.
“Today we didn’t take our chances and that made it difficult for us. Even in the second half we had other chances.
“In other games with less opportunities we have scored, today we created enough to score and it didn’t happen.
“The team is there, I repeat we are still in a good moment, we are going to be okay.”
The Italian will have 19-goal Troy Deeney available for the Vicarage Road clash and along with Matej Vydra, Alex Geijo and Fernando Forestieri, Zola knows he has plenty of firepower available to him.
“I’m expecting some of the players to improve their performances on Sunday. Matej [Vydra] works hard for the team and I know he’s going to score an important goal for us.
“We were solid and we played the game the way we had to.
“I will have different options on Sunday, I’ll value all the players and will find the best solution.”
